Vid Sheela on a US tour

Vid M S Sheela is in US for a concert till end May 2008. She began the tour with a concert at Dance and Music Festival of Indian Fine Arts Academy, San Diego on March 14. She performed at the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana festival too. She will be based in Washington for the first two weeks of April (contact person: Vid Usha Char. e-mail: ushachar@verizon.net). She is also performing in Dallas, Toronto(Canada), Columbus, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Burmingham. Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Indianapolis during the tour.

The five volumes of ‘Vaggeya Vaibhava’ (series on Mysore Composers brought out by Hamsadhwani Creations) have been compiled into MP3 album (visit detailed catalogue), and are available with Vid Sheela, during the tour. She can be contacted on the email: mssheela@hotmail.com.



Vaggeya Vaibhava 'Udupi Ksetra' of Charsur
Charsur Digital Workstation of Chennai has been producing thematic carnatic albums. Among its latest releases concurring with the Chennai music season is a Ksetra series album dedicated to Udupi, rendered by Vid Sheela.

The fifth volume of 'Vaggeya Vaibhava' was released as part of the Hamswadhwani's annual
festival on 30 November, 2007. This volume is dedicated to compositions of the legendary Veene Sheshanna, rendered by Vid M S Sheela.

Vaggeya Vaibhava and Melakartha Gana Malika
'Vaggeya Vaibhava' is a series launched by Vid Sheela through Hamsadhwani Creations on the compositions of Mysore Composers. The series is an attempt to bring these invaluable compositions closer to young learners and musicians outside Karnataka. The first four volumes featured compositions of Mysore Sadashiva Rao, Mutthaih Bhagavathar, Mysore Vasudevacharya and Jayachamaraja Wodeyar.

Sheshanna's special varna in Behag with ragamalike in 13 ragas following the regular Charana and ettugade swaras is a special feature in the fifth volume, along with thillana in Hindustani Kapi.

Another unique album being released along with this is 'Melakartha Gana Malika'. This is a rendition of compositions of Dr Ashok Madhav of Pittsburgh, USA, in melakartha ragas. 'Vaggeya Vaibhava' and 'Melakartha Gana Malika' are available for sale at Hamsadhwani.
